Inter Club Young Members Group Cocktail Party

All members under the age of 35 years are invited to attend the Inter Club Younger Members Group Cocktail Party in Carlton Gardens on Wednesday 14 July - we hope for an evening of sunshine as a backdrop to bellini cocktails and hot and cold canapes, whilst members and guests meet and greet their peers from all the clubs which belong to the Inter Club Group

Summer Party

The Club Summer Party was held on Thursday, 8 July in Carlton Gardens. The weather was perfect, Ayala Champagne and Pimms was on offer with a range of canapes prepared by our Chef. Members and guests enjoyed themselves until dinner was served at 8.30pm.

Library Talk - Farming in Ethiopia

Alex McCausland, who runs a sustainable farm in Ethiopia, came to the Club on Wednesday 30 June to tell us about what he does at Strawberry Fields Eco Lodge. How appropriate that this talk followed on from what Prince Asserate was able to tell us about the country in the younger days of Wilfred Thesiger.

Visit to Windsor

A visit to Windsor was arranged on Monday, 28 June, Field Marshal The Lord Bramall, KG GCB OBE MC, pesonally escorted 29 members with wives and guests around St George's Chapel, home of the Order of the Garter.

Library Concert - Ivana Gavric

Ivana Gavric is a pianist who was born in Sarajevo and has studied music at Cambridge and the Royal College of Music. She is about to make her solo debut at Wigmore Hall, and has agreed to come to The Travellers for a 'rehearsal'.

Library Talk - A Swamp Full of Dollars

A Swamp Full of Dollars: Pipelines and Paramilitaries at Nigeria's Oil Frontier is the title of Michael Peel's book and lecture at last night's library talk.

He gave us an interesting account and insight on the corruption invloved with the oil pipelines and gave his conclusions on the country which he knows and loves.

Club Wine Tasting

Library Talk - Kangchenjunga

On 17 May, George Band came to the Club for the 55th anniversary year of his ascent of Kangchenjunga and told us about the first time he and Joe Brown climbed the third highest mountain in the world.

It was a fascinating and humorous talk, combined with a collection of illuminating slides that captured this amazing climb which in many ways was historical as they were the first British climbers to reach the summit.

Gallery Visit

A visit to the Mall Galleries to see the exhibition by the Society of Portrait Painters has been arranged. The cost of the visit is £17, to include Gallery entry, a lecture from one of the artists about the skills involved, and tea upon return to the Clubhouse; start time 2.00pm
